Rakim (pronounced rah-KIM) (Born William Michael Griffin Jr. on January 28, 1968 in Queens, New York) is an American rapper and pioneer of the musical genre of hip hop. He is consistently cited as one of the most influential and skilled MCs of all time due to his exceptional flow and complex lyrical craftsmanship.s (and top amongst the most influential rappers) in hip-hop history, having revolutionized hip-hop lyricism with his complex flow, elaborate metaphors and rapid delivery. Together with Eric B, he released a number of classic albums between 1987 and 1992. He later released his solo debut album in 1997. To date his most successful album is ‘The 18th Letter’ Early life

Griffin is the nephew of American R&B singer and actress Ruth Brown. He grew up in Wyandanch, New York, and became involved in the New York hip hop scene at a young age. Eric B brought him to Marley Marl’s house to record “Eric B. is President.” At the time Griffin was fresh out of high school and on his way to college, but he decided to forgo higher education and instead chose to record with Eric B. Leshaun

When Griffin turned 16, he joined The Nation of Gods and Earths (also known as the 5 Percent Nation) and changed his name to Rakim Allah.[5]

Seventh Seal is by no means bad; people just had unrealistic expectations since he hasn't been seen in a decade. Still In Love is a very nice production, for that matter. We're never going to get the 90's back, but at least some artists let us be nostalgic about it. OB4CL2 is such an example, I suppose. Raekwon delivered even though people thought he wouldn't. Seventh Seal isn't a nostalgic album, its sound is pretty modern, so of course it isn't going to sound like the Rakim we heard 10 years ago. I agree this isn't even close to 18th Letter or Lyrics of Fury, but he sure as hell hands fags like Wale and T.I. their asses. Not to mention the deterioration of his music isn't even close to what happened to Nas, Redman and Mase. OB4CL2 is by far the best album of 2009, though - it's been said before, but it can't be said enough; Wu-Tang Forever.

I was SO disappointed when I actually bought Seventh Seal. -___- The production isn't him at all (although, I did like it), and it seemed that his flow isn't as strong as it once was (or maybe that he just kind of half-assed it the whole album). I'll still be sticking with The Master and The 18th Letter.
