The Islander by Nightwish was Raisand’s fifth acoustic instrumental cover. It was requested by Vincent Schinkel, a.k.a mrmetalhead426 (on youtube) and Nightwish426 (on last.fm). This was one of the most difficult covers that he played by then, because he didn’t know the song at all. He started by listening to the song carefully, and after about 10 full plays of the song, he started recording it. First he played the acoustic intro, and after that the whole acoustic line. Because there are 2 acoustic guitars playing at the same time, he had to learn both lines, and after recording them both he pasted them underneath eachother. After that he recorded the ‘drums’ by hitting the body of his guitar, and after that he recorded the vocals and backing vocals, after tabbing them ofcourse. In the end, The Islander turned out to be one of his best covers, and also became pretty popular.
