I was lucky enough to see and hear this gifted musician perform when I was only 15 yrs. of age. This tune still sends shivers up my spine.

Guy was a genius, even leaving aside what some perceive as 'gimmicks'. Me, I think the 'gimmicks' are a part of what gave him his unique and wonderful voice and I love his music.

newport had some great ones, Irina, he's got one as a younger Roland Kirk that is truly one side of a history of black music experience for the U.S. It is awesome....always carefully orchestrated with outstanding moving percussive piano and an uncanny set of breathing techniques (cool, breezy sound blowing on the coast on this one)

even though i don't care so much for Kirk's music, there is no doubt he was a musical genius - and I don't use that word frivolously.
