Treefingers (3:42)

Cover of Kid A

From Kid A and 6 other releases

“Treefingers” will hands down be one of the biggest surprises on Kid A. One may think that Synthesizers were used to make the song, but as Ed pointed out in an interview, it was done all on guitar. Thom recorded Ed playing guitar for about 10 minutes and then cut and paste the recording in his sampler.

I was into ambient music before I got into Radiohead (I started listening to them because I heard they cited Aphex Twin as an influence), so this wasn't too alien for me, I thought Kid A as a whole was fairly conventional. That being said, this is a great ambient piece,

Every good album has a song that's a surprise. This was Kid A's surprise track, and despite repeated listenings over the years, this still sustains that quality of surprise for me. Love it. (also, ever so much more awesome with the right headphones)

v Well for me, because it reminds me of Brian Eno's Music for Airports.

Sounds very clinical. It could go well with walking around a very sterile, bright, hi-tech airport or hospital. God knows why it evokes those images. Very inspiring.

So many interesting little sounds hidden in this track, if you take the time to listen to them.
