Ripcord (3:09)

Cover of Pablo Honey

From Pablo Honey and 25 other releases

This lyrically intelligent look at the music world is about “signing , having lots of money and absolutely no idea what the fuck to do with your life” - so said Thom at the band’s 1993 Gothenburg, Sweden, show. Thom’s skill with metaphors is evident as he explores the control a record company wields over it’s artists. The song was a live favorite throughout the early part of the band’s career but was dropped from their set list around mid-1995.

The descending chords when he says ripchord fit perfectly with the image of free falling to the ground

"Best band in the world,or just OK ?" Good rock band who decided to become "serious artists", but didn't realize they sucked at being "artists".

A gem from back before Radiohead got boring and "serious"!! Much better than anything from OK Computer or Kid A.
