About This Track

Written on tour this song is invisioned as a politician shouting down a microphone. The song was inspired by the poll tax riots and is very critical (as with most Radiohead work) of a capitalist society.

The mentioned I.M.F. is a banking trust.

I've never understood certain peoples' beef with this song. It's absolutely In It's Right Place on OK Computer, and I think it fits perfectly. Some people don't seem to get the concept of having some diversity on an album. I think it benefits greatly from having a burst of heavy-rock relief. And yeah, it's a great song.

When he sings 'I trust I can rely on your vote' I always imagine a politician twinkling at me

True. This gives the listener a break from the tears every other song on the album is capable of producing.

I think it sounds nice on Ok Computer...A necessary change of mood and a good way to precede the last four songs!

Makes me think of novice teenage musicians in a garage trying to play some of the Beatles' harder material.

It sounds like it should belong on The Bends rather than OK Computer, but still a great song.
