You (3:28)

Cover of Pablo Honey

From Pablo Honey and 54 other releases

“You” is a song by Radiohead from their debut album “Pablo Honey. A love song of an obsessive nature that first appeared on the Manic Hedgehog demo. This version was included on the Drill EP. For Pablo Honey, the song was rerecorded and some of the lyrics changed. The song greatly showcases Thom Yorke’s tenor voice with him belting C5 during the guitar solo. Performed live, the song is an excellent showcase for Thom’s incredible vocal abilities; he holds one note throughout the guitar solo.

This song should have been on an EP all its own. It's far stronger than anything else on Pablo Honey.

Pablo Honey basically proves that Radiohead could be a great band without all the studio creativity. Great straight ahead rock. Normal guitar solo. Normal drumming. Normal rock vocals. If they pulled a U2 and went back to being a straight ahead rock band, I think they'd pull it off better than U2 did. And that's a high bar (of course, they pulled off the complete left turn into electronic music 1000 times better than U2).
