About this album
The King of Limbs: Live from the Basement is a 2011 live video album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It includes performances of all eight tracks from The King of Limbs, plus singles “The Daily Mail” and “Staircase”; the DVD and Blu-ray editions include an additional performance of Record Store Day single “Supercollider”, plus a download code and a 32-page hardback book of photos from the recording session. The album will also be available via iTunes.
It is the first Blu-ray disc released by Radiohead, the first official DVD released by the band in seven years, the first video release to receive a retail physical edition since Meeting People Is Easy in 1999, and the first to focus mostly on performance by the band since Live at the Astoria in 1994. Other video releases such as Radiohead for Haiti were endorsed by the band, but not released by them, and the 2008 programme In Rainbows – From the Basement received a digital-only release in most territories (in Japan, it was later included on a special re-release edition of In Rainbows).
In this performance the five members of the band are also joined by several guest musicians. Most notably, Clive Deamer, currently a touring member of both Portishead and Radiohead, performs the songs’ complex percussion parts alongside Phil Selway. Horn players are also featured on “Bloom”, “Codex” and “The Daily Mail”. In between songs, the film briefly captures conversations between band members.
