The band was formed after the demise of Plagiarists at the end of 2008 in Minneapolis from members of that band: Wilson on guitar and vocals, multi-instrumentalist Brendan Golle (bass and keyboards), and bassist-turned-drummer Mikael Witte. Matt Germscheid of Masses With Masses later joined the band to relieve Golle of his duties on bass.
