Quintron is a New Orleans based music artist who is well known as the inventor of the Drum Buddy, a manually-operated electronic instrument utilizing light receptors.

His keyboard/electronic music is often accompanied by his wife, Miss Pussycat, who provides backing vocals, light percussion, and puppet shows. Flossie and the Unicorns and various other puppet shows have graced Quintron’s performances for years. A resident of the Upper Ninth Ward, Quintron’s Spellcaster Lodge was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina, but reopened in 2006.

I caught him and Miss Pussycat at the Krewe de Vieux ball. During "Swamp Boogy Badass" Quintron got off the stage with his mic and ran around the crowd, chanting "I am a badass." While this was going on, some drunk ass dude gets up on stage and starts playing Quintron's keyboard. Nonplussed, Quintron gets in the guy's face up on stage, chanting/shouting "I AM A BADASS! A MOTHER FUCKING BADASS!" in the guy's face. Piano guy got off the stage, shamed into fleeing. At least, that's how I remember it.

I've seen Quintron and Miss Pussycat several times here in Memphis and have never been disappointed. Genuinely kind people if you get the chance to speak to them privately. Weird too. HA but aren't we all?! My favorite shows are the ones when I get a puppet show! DOOOOD! The last time I saw them there was a new girl singing with Miss P. ???? A good time all around always!

The first time I ever saw them live was Halloween night 1998 in his own basement. I found it purely by accident by following a man dressed as a bottle of Thunderbird and a girl dressed as a flower pot across the street from the Saturn Bar through a mountain of jack-o-lanterns in his backyard. One of the best Halloweens ever.
