John Burns is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham, UK. He has a degree in Composition from the Birmingham Conservatoire; a classical education that is apparent in the intricacy of his songs. Most of his compositions are solo acoustic songs to which he adds overdubs (vocal, guitar and synth parts) at the recording stage. His recent work repeatedly explores the concept of Doubt in various different forms, namely: Existentialism; The passage of time; the elusiveness of Truth; the limitations of Communication. He is proficient on both Classical and Steel-String guitars.
He has been recording songs on his PC since 2005. Last.fm contains most of his recordings from 2005 up until the present day.
He regularly plays Open Mic nights in Birmingham where he hands out free, hand-drawn copies of his demo CD.
Influences include: Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Radiohead, Neil Young.
