I don't know... To say that the new album is the best since Promised Land, as people are... it's a pretty trivial accomplishment. Promised Land was the last thing they did that was worth a damn, wasn't it? This album isn't doing it for me, as a whole. I don't feel it's much better than American Soldier or Mindcrime 2. But maybe it will grow.

The newest album is a massive piece of shit. That being said I mean the Toddryche album with its Disturbed riffs and De la torre's overproduced vocals. Its a fucking shame

    " Billboard peak list 200: F.U = 40; Queensryche= 80. " -- @mavelix you must be dumb or on Tate's payroll. "Queensryche" is 23 on Billboard 200, "Flatulence Unleashed" was 82 for a week.

"A World Without" is the real state of queensryche...this the sound (side that i like). Arrangements orchestral, mysterious clean guitar melody, and little explotions voice that represent climaX.

"new Queensryche" dude. queensryche 2013 sound 80's .... nothing new. American soldier and Dedicated To Chaos are memorable. Promised land...Impossible to overcome.

I'm sure that QR doesn't mind Tate taking credit for their output since '97! The new QR (not the Tate version) is by far the best they've sounded since '94! THEY ARE BACK!!!

from billboard review... about queensryche album 2013 : Song In This Light: The album's most accessible song is an inspiring mid-tempo track influenced by European symphonic metal and contains one of the best melodies on "Queensrÿche." As the calmer verses alternate between rousing choruses, La Torre shows he's as much of a singer as he is a belter, warming the lyrics with his pleasant rasp.

  • mavelix

Since Queensrÿche fired Geoff Tate last June and the band’s internal conflicts came to light, the singer has publicly declared himself the mastermind behind the group’s output since guitarist Chris DeGarmo left in 1997.

Progression is such a relative term that it's a wonder you Geoff trolls can even comprehend it, much less apply it to your personal musical listening philosophies. Going from being a progressive metal pioneer band to a generic Nickelback soundalike with the occasional Floydian longer number doesn't sound like "progress" at all to me, but that's what we got in Frequency Unknown. Two good tracks and a whole lot of "look how tough I am grrrr" wannabe corporate Limp Bizkit rap-rock. I'll take 80's European power metal over Geoff's concept of musical progress any day of the week and counting. xD

"Frequency Unknown" includes guest appearances as Judas Priest's K.K. Downing, King's X's Ty Tabor and former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland.

Queensryche album 2013 is come back sound 80`s... no evolution, no change, is only stagnation. Is seems to be 80's european power metal...predictible riffs, guitars Chris DeGarmo and everything that you know. Simple Boring.

This is ... the end ..... of musical history queensryche.... :(

    July 2013
  • mavelix

Is a sad history.... Two versions of Queensryche exist because, despite a pending lawsuit in Seattle's King County Superior Court, Judge Carol A. Schapira determined that both Tate and his former bandmates are permitted to work under the moniker until the suit is settled.

Neue_regel_ -- Tate wrote a lot of the LYRICS for most of QR's music. He didn't write a single note of any song in the entire band's discography. You can thank Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton for the Queensryche sound of the early albums, as well as the other guys. By himself, Tate is pretty worthless. Least the guys can actually play!

The new Queensryche with LaTorre is excellent. His vocals give me goosebumps just like Tate's did back on their first 5 albums or so. I have always been a big fan of Queensryche in fact always listing Tate as one of the best vocals in metal during the 80's-90's, but this whole mess has caused me to question the future of Tate as a vocalist and business person. The album he released was awful, the mixing and quality of sound compared to this new one is crap and all becasue he rushed it and had to get it released before this other album? (my theory anyway) I had a lot of respect for Tate, but after all of this it makes me think that is the reason why they were not able to produce good music. When there is tension and arrogance among band members, it will show in their music. I am actually sorry to say this....but bow out Mr Tate, your time is done.

Just got self-titled album in the mail, listening to it now. Finally, some Queensryche that worth listening after two decades of horrible crap. They should had fired Tate in 1994.

  • Neue_regel_

v No he won't leave the name, because there is lots to lose in his business and fame. Besides, Tate has written about 40-50 % of QR's discography. I don't see why he should just grant the rights to a lazy Ed-Bass, an indifferent (productively) Rockenfield, and an only-Riffs-producing Mike Wilton. (in the past). Just because they got Todd, a more 'metal' & 'Warning'-sounding singer?? - Btw, "FU" is quite decent. And 'The Weight of The World' is probably the best Geoff Tate performance since Promised Land & HINTF. It sounds like the "Someone Else? of the 21th century.

    June 2013
  • Noxbi

I've been trying to respect both Queensrÿches and not to favour any of them... bot now, as I listened to both Queensrÿche and Frequently Unknown I can say that FU is a piece of shit compared to Queensrÿche... Yeah. I think it would be cool if Tate would use new name (Operation Mindcrime for example, he seems to like that album) and leave Queensrÿche name for the guys who know how to do it right.
