  • Album Review - Lady Gaga Born This Way

    5 Jun 2011, 23:26 by astrolabe1976

Well Lady Gaga's music has finally caught up with her mythology and image.

Born This Way is unmistakably Gaga..a busted disco ball on the floor; shiny, shattered, broken, reflective, disjointed, jagged, sparkly, beautiful.. and a mess. And for one day you could buy it for a dollar on Amazon.com thus selling a Million copies in its first week

It has all has the subtlety of a chainsaw, and Ms. Gaga wouldn't have it any other way.

If one thing, the sound of Born This Way very sonically consistent..hair metal rave. A very dirty hotel tryst between La Bouche and Def Leppard.

Vocally, Lady Gaga has never sounded better or more soulful. The thin girl vocals of Paparazzi are replaced with a sultry, soulful growl.

Of course on her sophomore album she had to go "deeper"..with the lyrics, the production, and the sound design. Lots of Sex, Religion, and self Empowerment..its Madonna 1992 Erotica. She can also speak in foreign languages now.. at least phonetically

    Sat 16 Jun – Muse

I hate to sound as though I'm exaggerating, but this was the single best musical experience of my life, and I'm sure that's an opinion that the majority of the other 80000 people there will share with me.

I've been to see Muse 3 other times before, but even the excitement of all 3 events put together doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the euphoria, togetherness and sheer exhileration that I felt surge through the crowd when Muse took to the stage after rising up through jets of confetti, and striking the glissando that marks the beginning of the epic Knights of Cydonia.

Unfortunately, the gig was so good my brain turned to mush and I can't remember much about it except for ejaculating in my pants a few times, reaching enlightenment, and Citizen Erased, which is one of my favourite Muse songs.

The support acts were good, although I really didn't rate Dirty Pretty Things' performance much. I didn't expect The Streets to be well-suited to the crowd…
  • Top 150 Songs Game

    22 Jun 2006, 21:26 by Zoethustra

My friend, Brian, and some of his friends created this game. Basically (if you are playing with 3 people), you have a list of 150 slots and two people suggest one song each that they think should be on the "150 Best Songs" list. The person who is holding the paper decides where each song should go on the list. Then the person passes the paper on to one of the other people and the process is repeated until the whole list is filled. The results are interesting because usually the middle gets filled up first and you are left with best and worst of the list...usually you get some strange results in the top ten.

Rules: You can only use an artist only once (you can use The Beatles once and John Lennon once...you just can't use the Beatles twice). Civers can make the list, but the cover and the original can't both be on the list.

Here's how ours went (the one's with the *'s are mine):

    150. Come Sail Away...if it were up to me Styx would not be on this list at all, so to make up for it I put it last.
