Sven Schienhammer grew up in the ’80s. Producing and remixing electronic music since 1995 first using hardware tools such as Rolands MC 505 and a 303 with some efx tools.
Now the studio is hardware and software in symbiosis. Using some oldschool synths from the 70’s & 80’s for the love of the lo-fi feeling of those machines! The sounds are digitized thoughts and emotions.
Personal favourite styles in music include detroit and dubby electronics, deep house, dub, roots reggae, drones, ambient and some experimental stuff. He also releases music as Sven Schienhammer.

I'm listening to Quantec for quite some time now and I must say that I was a little suprised when I heard the Journey of Mind album, because it indeed is different. I can't call it terrible though but I'm also not a fan of adding vocals into (dub) techno. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to his next releases, I love the atmosphere in his sound.

Terrible is a good word, boring also works. After such a promising first album, why this? I guess he was trying to be more marketable to the Shed, Scuba, Klock, Dettmann audience but he forgot you must a) work at hardwax b) have a resident spot at berghain c) release white label releases with ink stampers as an unknown mystery then once RA has given them a 4.5 review, the mystery will unravel and you will be the berlinimal god of today. Wrong strategy with this album.

I never have asked for my money back or to return a record at my local record shop except after purchasing this album. The vocals are awful, complete cheese machine. I was hoping for something like his last album on Echocord which I really like. Why do so many dub techno artist mess things up with adding vocals?

I picked up his new album on Echocord this week and I like the ambient album on Silent Season much better. Its nothing new although he does try and use that ever so popular Shed alike dub-step thing, total snooze fest.
