I had great hopes for this album. Unfortunately, the attempt to incorporate death metal drumming seems to have backfired completely and I find the album near unlistenable. The drums appear to have been thrown in unintelligably and their tempo and rhythm do not appropriately match the music. I'd read about the unusual drumming in this, and I was looking forward to its experimentation, however it simply disappointed me. I hope I can pick this album up again in a month or so and be astounded by it. I hope.

*chuckles* and I'll give the reverse opinion. While "screamo" Pyramids is actually several hundred times better than anything else I've heard called "screamo," Hydra Head Pyramids has to come out on top here. Yay for opinions.

"great album, but how is this band 'screamo'?" They're not. There's more than one band named Pyramids. Emotive Hardcore Pyramids is sometimes tagged as screamo. Oh, and while Post-metal Pyramids is good, Emotive Hardcore Pyramids is 1000x better.
