Born and raised in Spanish Harlem, NYC, Puff Hickson was introduced at a very young age to something she describes as being “madly in love with.” That something she discovered love for, was music. At the age of 2 she began dancing and singing to any type of music she heard. She had an array of idols that she watched, listed to and even mimicked, but at the very root of her “child’s play” stemmed her desire to perform professionally as a musician herself.
As Puff grew up, so did her desire to truly explore performing. During the Break-Dance era (80s) she found herself executing the popular moves. Acquiring this new talent, not only did she gain a mild taste of what it was like to perform, she also created a way for herself to enter into the entertainment industry. Possessing the ability to instantly perfect new moves, she was recognized for her street dancing skills by her peers during her early teen years. From the ages of 12-18, she seriously became engulfed in her dreams to perform when various artists recognized her for her dancing and eventually, MC-ing/rapping skills. Soon enough she was hired to dance in live performances, music videos, etc. One of her most memorable experiences was when she had the opportunity to demonstrate her talents for famous recording artist, actress & idol, Queen Latifah as well as Mona Scott, Da Brat, Rakim and the group Jungle Brothers.
