Psychotic Waltz is a progressive metal band formed in El Cajon, California in 1988.

The first incarnation of the band was under the name Aslan, after a character in the novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. With money earned from local shows and T-shirt sales, they recorded a self-titled demo tape in 1986. After discovering another band with the same name, they changed theirs to Psychotic Waltz and recorded a new four-song demo in 1988.

In 1990, they debuted with their independently financed debut A Social Grace, which was released in Europe via a licensing deal with the German label Rising Sun Productions. The album was very well received in Europe, being named album of the month in some European magazines, The situation in US was more difficult, as the album was released under the band’s own Sub Sonic Records label. With practically no promotion and minimal distribution, it remained an extremely underground item. In 1991, the band appeared in the Dynamo Festival in Holland.

After the tour, the band’s guitarist, Dan Rock, suffered a near-fatal accident after falling off a bridge while rappelling. The band went on to record their second album, Into the Everflow. The album was recorded from August–October, 1992, at Phoenix Studios in Herne, Germany, and was produced by Mekong Delta’s main man, Ralph Hubert.

I suppose you're not really into Hip-Hop, are you? 'Cause otherwise, there are quite a few artists that are really top notch in terms of in terms of their music and their lyrics...and could be quite interesting in terms of how to be a little playful with our language

I was wondering if you could recommend me some music w/ vocals in German (not English), of stuff you are into, from any genre, since I like most of what I see on your page. I am in the process of learning the language but am having a hard time finding music I like from Ger or other Ger-speaking countries. Most of what I'm recommended, like Die Artze (w/ the umlaut), is not my cup of tea & most of the metal I find I like is in English or just not what I'm into (too medievalish/celtic-y, e.g., Faun & Schandmaul or other stuff I just can't stand, e.g., power metal). Again, preferably stuff in German lang but if there's English stuff that's worth checking out as well let me know :) Danke!

lol'd @ DT being gods. It has nothing to do with elitism, they are just way overrated because of their instrumental wanking. The last great album was Awake. [2] Dream Theater can't even TOUCH Psychotic Waltz's class. They are just geeks from Berkley attempting at metal. They will never be a good band without Kevin Moore.
