A mesmerising track; one of the best "they" have done. The attention to detail goes even to fully arranged, properly sung demoes. But it is a fully-formed piece. The insistent piano- and-strings figure, and the driving rhythm reminiscent of some of Eno's work with Talking Heads, add an interesting dimension as his never-better vocals soar over the top. One of his best songs: a masterclass.

Paddy MacAloon, probably one of the best vocalists this country has. I saw him with Sprout in Warwick in 2000 and they/ he was simply one of the best live vocalists I've ever heard live. He is also a fantastic guitar player as demonstrated on couple of acoustic tracks he did. This track is a perfect demonstration of what I mean, ethereal vocal delivery, soaring melody lines and the trademark baritone with layered high harmonies. Excellent stuff. If this was a 'demo' god only knows what other bands with 'demos' must think...
