    Geoff had a lot of jams and things they recorded pressed to acetate disc for sampling and scratching. They were trying to keep the ambience of samples while getting away from the laziness and trainspotting nerdishness of people who were imitating Dummy. I think the "Hookers and Gin" sample was a deliberate swipe at this tendency and they didn't even make it a secret. Sean Atkins was in a few different Bristol bands. If you speed it up it sounds like an English person faking an American accent, because it is.
