Every Home Is Wired (5:07)

Cover of Signify

From Signify and 3 other releases

One of Steven’s most ambitious vocal experiments in Beach Boy fashion - a nod from one Wilson to another - though the end section is built up from a separate idea by Chris, elaborated by Colin’s double bass. This song layers thirty-seven sets of vocal overdub to create the falling, melancholy chorus. It expresses Steven’s early concerns about the depersonalising effects of life in cyberspace. These days, he’s a happy websurfer, but the song remains a strong band favourite.

Steven Wilson - vocals, guitars, keyboards, tapes

Richard Barbieri - Prophet V/System 700 electronics
Colin Edwin - bass guitar, double bass
Chris Maitland - drums

Kind of surprising to hear this lyrical theme in a fairly old song...

The lyrics are kind of similar to the attitude that caused Steven Wilson to choose the subject for Fear of a Blank Planet.

He sure is unique :D !!! And talented for sure... So many good songs, even from old PT albums :D What surprises me is how they keep on getting better! Steven starting out more or less in his own studio doing his own projects has really crossed the threshold! There is no limit to their sound :D
