Formed in 1992 Pompa was the first Lithuanian hip-hop band with classical gangsta rap texts on women, guns and crime. Looking back we can state clearly that it was a true phony scam with producers behind their backs who wanted this to be an oppostion to rampant cheeesy pop music of those days. Back in the days the lyrics and attitude they projected came as a shock as that time a reference to sex/tits/asses among a pop (meaning known) bands was unimaginable. It’s not know what the band members are doing now, but Thermo J (lead singer)has been seen in a business suit and case recently and the producers now reign supreme in LT show BIZ with other ‘projects’. It is difficult to estimate Pompa’s legacy but it could be said that they hand a cult like following back in the days and contributed massively to a novel type of youth culture/attitude etc.
