PlasticSole, formed in 1996 out of the ashes of post-hardcore metalers Uncle Bill, played a unique blend of blues infused pop rock. Catchy choruses, mixed with off-beat arrangements, were the order of the day.

Made up of five members, singer SJ, guitarist Simon Brindle, keyboardist Dann Tiplady, bassist Jamie Blackman, and drummer Steven Brindle, PlasticSole toured relentlessly. Unafraid to entertain their audiences, PlasticSole refused to play the same set twice. Sometimes songs were written for the occasion, sometimes covers were learnt. It usually ended, however, in drummer Steven ‘signing’ his show stopping version of ‘King of the Swingers’. Despite their success, including being voted Best Live Act, the band split when singer SJ left to ‘find himself’ in China.

Fan favourites include electro-pop inspired ‘Return to Astro Wars’, thunderous ‘Notice to the Parish Council’ and sublime ‘1988’, which features the immortal line ‘I fcuked your sister back in 1988’.

Gone, but not forgotten, PlasticSole may one day reform; probably for the Christening of one of their children
