  • Top 21 Pink Floyd

    21. Pigs On The Wing (both parts)
The happy song on Animals. The other three are full of Orwellian references and Waters heavy-handedness, but this is an escape. I listened to this during biology today. Teacher didn't notice.

    20. Astronomy Domine
There are actually two versions of this. One was on The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, an album mostly known for being "the one with Syd Barrett." The other is on Ummagumma, and the length is nearly doubled. Myself, I prefer the original. The voice reading out the names of stars at the beginning is the band's manager at the time.

    19. See Emily Play
This sounds like a Beatles song on even more acid than usual (for a Beatles song.)

    18. Point Me at the Sky
This didn't do so well in 1967 when it was released, and it is one of the most difficult songs to find. It is also the one that I just got a week ago. (Thank deity of your own choosing for BitTorrent. …

Last year, I wrote 25 pages of bad music blog on Facebook, where no one cares, rather than here, where there are MEAN PEOPLE! I've been intending to trim & transplant for a long time. Here's some stuff.

The content is going to be whatever I wanted to get off my chest at the time, which at the time would generally be about film scores and Christian music.

The most I've ever paid out of my own pocket (well, bank account) for an album was $17 for The Ocellus Suite by Martin Kiszko. I heard this music in a 1996 documentary about insects in about 1999. It was a dream of mine to own it from then on, but when extensive online searches last year turned up only listings with nothing in stock, I left a standing bid on Amazon.co.uk; the documentary was originally a BBC production, and Amazon.com didn't even know the soundtrack existed. Two months later my bid was taken up and the CD arrived in pristine condition.

I didn't originally know it, but this was my introduction to minimalist music. …

    The Australian Pink Floyd Show
    De Vereeniging, Nijmegen, The Netherlands
    February 13th 2008

So, there it is. My first TAPFS gig! I’ve been a Floyd-fan for a couple of years so I never had the opportunity to see the real ones live. I was quite excited when TAPFS announced their European “Best Of The Wall” tour. So I immediately bought tickets for the show.

Alright, the gig! I haven’t been to the Vereeniging venue before, but it’s a nice small concert hall with great acoustics I must say. It wasn’t a sellout, there were places left on the balcony. We had seats in the back of the hall on an elevated platform, so we had a great view on the stage.

At exactly 8:00 PM the light went down and a familiar piece of music came on: the melody of ‘Outside The Wall’. The guys and girls came up in the dark and were grabbing their gear. I knew they would start with In The Flesh? so I held on tight! And yep there it was! What a sound! And so loud!…

    Rules:

Put your mp3 player of choice on random and select a lyric from each of the first 30 songs that come up, then allow everyone to guess the song and cross a song off your list once it has been guessed correctly.

Using Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
    Good Luck!

1.So many displaced among the future dreamers
    Realised their doubles
    Took a new step
    A question of origin

    2.Pounding, it starts again
Hurting, oh where do I begin?
Screaming, they dance around my head
Hoping, they'll maybe end up dead

3.Reflex in the sky warn you you're gonna die
Storm coming, you'd better hide from the atomic tide

4.They told of one who tired of all singing,
    "Praise him, praise him."
"We heed not flatterers," he cried,
    "By our command, waters retreat,
Show my power, halt at my feet,"
    But the cause was lost,
    Now cold winds blow.

    Can-Utility and the Coastliners
