I don't think Gimour had any bad feelings toward Syd. He *DID* however harbor some bad feelings against Waters. I like to think of "What Do You Want From Me" and this one, Poles Apart, as written directly to Waters. Don't get me wrong, I love Waters, I'm just saying the songs fit as a diatribe from Gilmour to Waters (and since Mason and Wright were also on these songs, they've got their skins in the fight too, even if only guilty by association).
