Many people believe this song is about Syracuse in Sicily, Italy. I also grew up in Syracuse, NY and it *IS* an awesome place. People who hate the area (Syracuse, NY) were most likely the people who were sitting inside their houses 24/7 complaining there isn't anything to do. CNY is one of the most gorgeous areas, and actually has a lot going on if you take the time to look and have the right connections.
