Amazing collaboration here with the EW&F horns and the children's choir... this track is Phil working some mad Stevie Wonder-esque magic. Always makes me get up and dance around.

mrgargoyle, I completely agree. This is like the closer of the trilogy "The Roof is Leaking - Droned - Hand in Hand", and what an awesome trilogy it is. I've loved Hand in Hand ever since I heard it in as an opener in "Live and Loose in Paris".

Funny to say that the intro could be a Arcade Fire song or something

I've always had the sense that "Hand in Hand" was the culmination of a sort of mini-suite that included "The Roof is Leaking" and "Droned," the way they transition from one to the next. It's such a strong, dynamic closer to side one of the album (back when albums had sides), and also made for an amazing opener at live shows.

Did anyone ever see the schlocky '60s or '70s remake of Capra's "Lost Horizons"? Had Michael York and Sally Kellerman in it? This song kinda reminds me of the children singing with Bobby Van in that movie. That may be another reason I like it.

This was on Phil's first solo outing, and I agree that it represents unusual cheerfulness in his oeuvre. njmama, I agree: good all the way through (maybe not for today's many ADHA-afflicted). I believe this is Earth Wind and Fire's horn section, if memory serves.

For a minute? No way! It is great all the way through what with the horns and all. Very lively.

This is one of the happiest songs I know. So bright and cheerful, way different from Phil's usual sad numbers.
