Biography

“No Jive”
Two simple words that encompass what Pheo, aka “Blackman
Magnificent” lives by and his music subscribes to. Hailing
from Moreno Valley, California, he represents the creative
collective, U.T.B Life$tyle. April 2009 saw Pheo’s first
official mixtape Word to Your Blogger, it demonstrated his
superb writing ability and wordplay. His capacity as a fine
tuned craftsman manifested with the release of his first
studio album Wriot! The album released in March 2011
and subsequently featured in L.A. Weekly, to which it
proclaimed, “…we played it 10 times in 2 days…”
A year after Wriot!, Pheo goes on to record the They
Soulection EP, a collaboration with Long Beach based
Soulection Radio. Pheo’s music was admired by Diplo’s
Mad Decent record label, which went on to release
the California Sex EP through its Jeffree’s imprint.
The album featured selected tracks from Wriot!
and They Soulection, alongside the title track
produced by Mad Decent’s DJA. The release
received praise from The Fader as well as
UK based The Guardian. Pheo will spend his
Summer 2012 on the Smokers Club Tour, a
nationwide tour headlined by Juicy J of
Three 6 Mafia.
Pheo continues to carve his niche
alongside U.T.B. Life$tyle, as well as
expanding his own personal mantra,
‘Avocado Everything’. For 2013 he
strives to release the UTB Life$tyle
compilation, a joint project with
Cashius Green and Realism, his next
solo album. As always, upcoming
projects will be one hundred
percent ‘No Jive’.
