Biography

Finland

Finland’s Pharaoh Overlord take huge rock songs and turn them into minimal trance-inducing drones. Pharaoh Overlord features members of Circle. Their earlier records are stoner/jam rock, moving on to more experimental/space rock sounds, also incorporating krautrock, on their third full-length. On the instrumental riff-based rock album “#4” metallic tendencies began to show, which were further developed with the band’s sixth full-length “Out of Darkness”, a straight-up 80s heavy/speed metal record.

There are two “different” incarnations of the band, one written “Pharaoh Overlord” and one “Pharaoh Overlörd”, each with different lineups:

Pharaoh Overlörd:
Jussi Kangas: guitars, vocals
Jussi Lehtisalo: bass
Tomi Leppänen: drums

Discography:
-#4
-Out of Darkness

Pharaoh Overlord:
Janne Westerlund: guitars, vocals
Pekka Jääskeläinen: guitars
Julius Jääskeläinen: guitars
Jussi Lehtisalo: bass
Tomi Leppänen: drums

#4 (and Out of Darkness) is an album by Pharaoh Overlörd, not Pharaoh Overlord. They're different bands/projects, they even have a different guitarist. That's why they also sound different. So, basically the only real departure from the usual Pharaoh Overlord sound is Siluurikaudella.

@Smirnon Lol, I completely disagree. III is the best EVER! I like them all (except for OoD that is really boring, seems we agree on this). If I have to order them, I think: III, II, I, Siluu, LJ, Horn, #4, LiSF, TBotA and OoD.

TBotA is my fave i guess, with close runner-ups #1 and II, which are again closely followed by Horn, LJ and Live in Suomi. then comes III, then #4 then OotD and lastly Siluu
