Jesus, I downloaded FLAC files for this and it's basically unlistenable haha...they uploaded Core, maybe they'll release a remaster for this too, the parts I can actually make out are good.

This is a truly piece of good melodic death of nowadays, here we have a bunch of slow songs and also we have lots of fast and stunning ones. Usage of japaneese thematics and their national instruments is really freakin' awesome.

@ Gloomypariah Interesting, I consider Core their most progressive. Maybe Shin Ken seems more progressive to you because of the ethnic instruments.

At first i was disappointed by this album after the first 2 releases, but now re-listening to it after Spiritual Migrations has been released, it doesn't sound too bad. This is maybe too progressive for some (me) thats why it doesn't open up like the other releases, but there are definitely some good songs and moments here, not easy listening by any means for the most part. New album overshadows this one by quite a margin in my mind.

An outstanding work, hope their next album is at least 1/10th of what Shin-ken is.

Really excellent release. Not as good as Core though, IMO.

Outstanding vocals. I wish more bands would do this sort of high pitched stuff. I love it.
