Pentaphobe is an experimental artistic project. Pentaphobe’s music is mostly known from Rachel Brice’s solos on the Bellydance Superstars tours, from her Yoga, Isolations and Drills DVD, and remixes of favorite songs by other artists. Very intense, dark and beautiful music with a touch of circus and industrial.

cogsturning, your clarification has helped. I believe that my concluding thought was posited to question you further as to why you feel that he should drop the bellydance theme.

I totally agree with you cogsturning! Steampunk is all over the place! Can I quote you on that for a website I am making??

steampunk is far from well-established, at least as a musical form; there is no solid definition for the steampunk genre because it is such a mess. artists who identify themselves as steampunk range anywhere from modern classical to dark cabaret to techno. the most commonly recognized is a sort of sub-par darkwave made by bored goths who decided to change their clothes and write songs about airships. the genre is filled with talentless bandwagoners and wannabes who dont really get the concepts of steampunk or edwardian/victorian themes. not to mention that nearly everything thats labeled 'steampunk' could just as easily be put into another category, making it a pretty flimbsy genre. the only exception i can think of are The Clockwork Quartet, who are exactly what steampunk should be and have produced an earth-shattering two tracks so far. and an artist doesnt have to be 'depraved' of their focus to evolve or transition into another style.

cogsturning, I think that you're maligned in your understanding. 1) How do you define the genre? 2) What rationale do you give towards your desire for Pentaphobe to "drop the bellydance theme"? I'm not understanding why you feel that it is desirable to deprave him of his focus on the "bellydance theme" (which seems to be provided minimal innovation within the experimental electronic field) in order to adjunct to the "steampunk genre" which seems to be well-established irregardless of how pitiful it is perceived as being.

sawdust is pretty rad. this guy should drop the bellydance theme and focus on giving some much needed creditability to the pitiful steampunk genre.

So few shouts on many of these tracks, though the listeners appear to be there. I'm quickly and most enthusiastically becoming a big fan.... and a bt of a dork about it, obviously ;)
