On Saturday, The Barbican, London staged an evening of funk and afro-beat courtesy of former James Brown band members Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley.
Playing classic tracks such as Try Me, Make it Funky, This is a Man's World, Cold Sweat and Pass the Peas Ellis & Wesley were superbly accompanied by the likes of Cheikh Lô, Simphiwe Dana, Tony Allen, Wunmi and UK hip-hop artist TY
The music performed here was a fine example of the music, legacy & influence of James Brown. Like me he would have been impressed with the concert and the artists interpretations of his songs. A fine concert.
