Pawnsphinx started out by Dj'ing in local boon raves in his home town of Chelmsford, Essex when he was just 6 years old. He was later pursued, by what Peter Tosh of Jamaica named 'the evil forces', for his notoriety as an advocate of the rave scene and for being a part of the liberal intellectual group 'disKordance'. He was forced into exile and fled to India. Here he led a frugal existence eating from shrubs and bushes, often competing with goats and other wildlife for the meagre scraps to be had.
