Paul Kunigis was born in Poland in 1953, to a highly decorated and one of the remaining few Jewish officers in the polish army, and to a Roman Catholic mother. Due to political instabilities and ideological differences, the family moves to Israel. To preserve their Polish heritage, his mother put him in a Catholic French school, in Jaffa. Herein lies the foundation of Paul’s unique blend of musical background. Imagine, a small boy, raised in Israel by a catholique mother and a Jewish father, in a French school in an Arab city! Throughout his childhood, teenage years and as an adult, Paul’s appreciation for all kinds of music is as equal as his curiosity and respect of all those cultures that surrounded him. This daily blend of eastern & western melodies, of middle eastern and northern African rhythms, of country, blues and jazz songs and sounds; This variety of cultures, traditions, religions, languages & food, played an important role in his evolution as a singer/songwriter and pianist.

Having decided to take the path of passion, Paul hangs around piano bars where for a meal and a few bucks he would play the blues. Then, his roots & background emerge, paving the way for his unique world of songs & compositions. He forms Jeszcze Raz, pronounced Yes Tche Raz meaning “once more.” In 1997 he releases his first CD titled Pamietam meaning “I Remember.” The reviews are all good, and the record finds its place in the hearts & homes of several thousands aficionados of World Music.
