Berlin, Germany (1999 – present)

Paul Kalkbrenner (1977) is a producer, DJ and actor from Berlin, Germany. He is signed to the famous Bpitch Control label founded by Ellen Allien.

Starting as a trumpet player and studying music theory, Kalkbrenner later switched to electronic music. In 1999 he released his first tracks under the name of Paul dB+. As a live act, he performs using Ableton Live in combination with midi controllers and hardware synthesizers.

In 2008 he composed the sountrack for the German movie Berlin Calling in which he also is the leading actor. The theme song Sky and Sand, featuring his brother Fritz Kalkbrenner ended up in various European charts.

    @TheGrimMonolith Et is doch vollkommen egal, ob man sich in Zukunft an diese Musik erinnert oder nich. Die Leute haben heute ihren Spaß damit. Die Musik erfüllt hier und jetzt ihren Zweck, und etwas anderes sollte eigentlich keine Rolle spielen, wenns um Musik geht.

    This is why LastFM can be really cool - I had never heard of Paul Kalkbrenner before, but through one of my weekly clicking around on the site I found a user that had Paul as the most played artist by far - and I simply had to check him out. I instantly felt that there was potential. Although I wasn't blown away. And I wouldn't say that have changed. But, without a doubt, Paul is someone I can find myself listening to night after night - because feel that PK is mostly suitable for night time. Very chill out sound. Favorite track? Hard to say. Maybe Dockyard.
