Paul Gilbert's new CD, 'Fuzz Universe' hit the japanese stores on June 30 in 2010. I preordered it from Japan and here's my impression!

To me, Fuzz Universe is probably the best record Gilbert has ever done. Everything from Racer X-esque, Bach-influenced, sometimes funny stuff to typical pentatonic scale shredding can be found in there. Some parts remind me of 'Burning Organ' (mainly because of the synchronized guitar/organ parts), but they are even more interesting. Some single track reviews from me:

The title track is, of course, somewhat mind blowing compared to the rest of the album, but that changes after you hear the cd 2 or 3 times, I'd say. The most interesting thing about the title song is definitely the fact that it sounds like a new 'Technical Difficulties'. Very Racer X-esque sound, and by far the heaviest song on the album. As if that wasn't enough, it stretches no less than 7 (SEVEN) minutes of pure epicness. It would have fit as the album closer as well as the opener…
