The album’s title track, written by Patrick Hernandez, was a significant pop hit and also hit number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart. “Born to Be Alive” was also covered by pop-punk group Los Nikis, with lyrics consisting just of repetitions of Me voy a Benidorm. This song was also covered by Nekromantix and Roberto Blanco.

The song “Born to Be Alive” was a smash hit in France, and has become one of the biggest singles in that country. It has sold 11 million copies worldwide.

“Born to Be Alive” was also covered in the Pump It Up series of rhythm dance video games.
