Paramour is the moniker of unsigned artist, Wini Lo. In every one of her songs, the vocals, guitars, piano and harmonica are performed by Wini. In true DIY style, her songs were recorded using an old laptop, Windows Sound Recorder and a mic, in her bedroom. Paramour is not to be confused with the rock band Paramore.
With “sweet, dreamy vocals and melodies… with heartfelt, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes whimsical lyrics,” the songs cut right to the heart about love.
She credits Rilo Kiley, Jenny Lewis, Amy Millan, Elliott Smith, Feist, Aimee Mann, Kay Hanley, Mazzy Star and Death Cab for Cutie as musical influences. Lyrically, she mostly draws on personal experiences. But at the same time, “I try to write songs that people might be able to relate to,” she says.
Her demo CD ‘Boys are Trouble’ is available on her Myspace site and features 10 original songs, and 4 covers.
Her songs include “If The Battle Was Over (I Wouldn’t Be Fighting This),” “Take a Minute” and “Two Dimension Girl.”
