What's left inside him?
Don't he remember us?
Can't he believe me?
We seemed like bothers
Talked for hours last month
About what we wanna be
I sit now with his hand in mine
But I know he can't feel...
No one knows
What's done is done
It's as if he were dead
I'm close with his mother
And she cries endlessly
Lord how we miss him
At least what's remembered
It's so important to make best friends in life
But it's hard when my friend sits with blank expressions
No one knows
What's done is done
It's as if he were dead
He as hollow as I alone now
He as hollow as I alone
A shell of my friend
Just flesh and bone
There's no soul
He sees no love
I shake my fists at skies above
Mad at God
He as hollow as I converse
I wish he'd waken from this curse
Hear my words before it's through
I want to come in after you
My best friend
He as hollow as I alone
23 Apr 2008, 14:35 by munchies1I have a soft spot for metal ballads. I hate the gay cheesy and forced kind like Black Sabbath's Changes or Metallica's notorious Nothing Else Matters but I do enjoy an occasional partly mellow and calming metal song.
So, I want to compose a list of metal ballads which don't suck (please no glam shit that goes under 'ghey'), instrumental dirges also welcomed.
Here's what I've listed so far :
Return to Serenity
Trail Of Tears
Musical Death (A Dirge) (instrumental)
Diamond Head -
Don't You Ever Leave Me
A Tout le Monde
Fade to Black
Mercyful Fate -
To One Far Away
Iron Maiden - Wasting Love
Black Sabbath -
Voice of the Soul (instrumental)
In Memory Of... < thanks tyecok
Laaz Rockit -
The Omen < etc
In Flames - Acoustic Medley (instrumental) <thanks to vermilion666
15 Jan 2008, 00:34 by CatatonicsHere I will list some of the albums that I think are masterpieces in the metal genre:
First of all, a death metal album. Probably THE death metal album:
Death - The Sound of Perseverance
A perfect record. Period.
After having a stop in the death metal country, we go to progressive metal.
Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From a Memory
An album that tells you a story. An album that pictures that story in your mind and stick in there forever everytime you listen to this record.
And then we arrive at the groove metal heroes!
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Track by track is a fucking killer album. Starting from Mouth for War going through four magnificent tracks like Walk, Fucking Hostile, This Love and Rise and then everything comes to its end with Hollow. Definetely another 5 star album.

So I noticed lots of people do this, thought I'd follow suit, mostly as a place to note my listening habits at the time then see how this changes. I was going to do my whole top 50, but looking at the questionable nature of the bottom regions of my charts I decided against! My 5000th track is Metal Magic (yes this is a statement, more on that later...).
1 Iron Maiden
Fav songs: Revelations, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
Only getting into this band very recently, but in a big way. They have too many fantastic songs so I just picked a few above. Fav album at the moment is probably Brave New World.
Fav songs: Holy Wars...The Punishment Due, Trust, Mary Jane
Probably my fav band at time of writing. Again, faaar to many perfect songs to name one, so I'm limiting myself to 3 at random. Fav album (and 2nd fav of all time) is Rust In Peace.

6 May 2006, 05:07 by aizjanikaI watched the VH-1 Classic Concert with Heart & Friends. It was really good. The best parts, though, were when Alice in Chains was playing and also the little bits of interview with the band.
I have to admit I got a little confused about which singer was which since I didn't know either of them, but I'm going to assume that the second singer with Alice in Chains was Duvall. I liked him. He's not Layne, but at least he could sing.
I'm suddenly rearranging my playlist to play every AiC song.
Usually I have it set up to play an entire AiC CD after every little bit of other music--usually because I have such a hard time picking favorite songs. I mean, I know I could. If I really had to narrow it down, I know I love Don't Follow, Love, Hate, Love, Rain When I Die, and Am I Inside.
But...can I really say that I love those songs more than I love Would?, Man in the Box, Rooster, Sea of Sorrow, or Heaven Beside You...or almost any other Alice in Chains song, depending on my mood?
22 Apr 2006, 15:58 by conorsdamanChildren of Bodom - Bastards of BodomI was really obsessed with this song the first time I heard COB's newest album. It has worn off now but is still very catchy.
Iron Maiden - The TrooperA very addictive song from the masters of the NWOBHM. One of the catchiest riffs ever and the solos are sublime.
DragonForce - Body BreakdownAn excellent power metal epic. Great solos and interesting lyrics. The chorus is brilliant for it's cheesy sing-a-long nature.
Blind Guardian - Fly - When this track was leaked onto the internet I got it straight away. Very catchy and addictive. hopefully the new album will be great.
Metallica - Seek and DestroyThe ultimate thrash song by the ultimate thrash band. An anthem for heavy metal in general. A simple, yet effective riff that hooks you in there. Sheer brilliance.
Queensryche - Revolution CallingThe proper opening sing from the infamousOperation: Mindcrime. Very groovy to begin with, the sublime vocals kick in and 80s nostalgia flows over. A great prog track from a great band.
