Power Metal is the fourth studio album by heavy metal band Pantera, released in 1988 on Metal Magic Records. The album showcases a style closer to thrash metal rather than hard rock, which formed the basis of the band's previous three albums; although traces of glam metal can still be heard.

I wasn't sure if this would be the best place to ask for (a) recommendation(s), though I just recently purchased this album and I was going to use this as the means to discern whether or not I should get one of this album's predecessors. I love Power Metal, so I was thinking I probably would get one of Pantera's other 80's releases. From what I've read most fans consider "I Am The Night" to be the best Glaze-era album encompassing both musicianship and production quality, though I was just curious if anyone has any contradictory opinions as to which of the albums encompassed by that era that I should get? As I have no idea what Terry Glaze will sound like, I was also curious how most would define his vocals? The only adjective I've seen them characterized by is "raspy", so I was hopeful some other fans could be more descriptive and/or maybe compare him to some other prominent metal vocalists? Provided this post is met with some helpful responses, thanks in advance!

I could never get into Pantera's groove stuff, but this is amazing, so much like judas priest and megadeth, I love it. I take back all that hate towards Pantera \\m/
