Savonlinna, Finland

Paavoharju comes from Savonlinna, Finland where brothers Lauri and Olli Ainala met Emmi Uimonen, Jenni Koivistoinen and some other people. Paavoharju’s music is outcome of long time, intense study of art and literature, dreams, religious despair and living in dark abandoned places. The sound is something between Bollywood music, church hymns, beautiful pop tunes and ambient esoteric noises. The music is unlike anything heard on this planet yet still oddly comforting.

Paavoharju released Yhä hämärää in 2005 and a follow-up Laulu laakson kukista was released in 2008.

Paavoharju is about experimenting without prejudices to create something new, and Joko sinä tulet tänne alas tai minä nousen sinne is a very respectable example of that, although I and many others don't find it as enjoyable at first as the other albums. First time I listened the new album, I didn't enjoy it much, but later I've been enjoying few tracks, and the album may be one of the slowest growers. I don't like comments where people say some art is bad because they don't get or enjoy it, I wonder how can't they even recognize some obvious genial details while they think that the art just doesn't entertain them personally. Thank you Paavoharju, I'm very inspired by your experimental, daring and playful attitude. Rest in peace (I'm glad you quit to stay fresh forever).

Raph_Neternalz: Paperi T has always been one of my least favourite rappers but I think it fits here somehow. Weird.

I'm missing the female vocals on the new album. It's not quite as bleakly electronic-based as Yhä, but instead has some hip hop tendencies. I think it'll grow on me with time, but it's not quite what I was expecting
