perhaps they went for it under a new name, so they can go back as Morning Benders without having the name stained :D

if it sounds amazing, then yeah, of course. experimenting with new sounds is generally cool, but not when it actually does end up sounding like One Direction.

New direction is interesting. What, you all want a band to have only One Direction?

i wouldn't have minded the name change so much if they didn't decide to become so awful as well.

@rachelvanity are you serious? nobody here told them to change their name, but of course its going to bring up questions of it in interviews. if it was the other way round and they were from the UK and called the morning fags, do you not think people would've asked questions when touring the US? its silly to think as a country we 'made' somebody change their name

Music should always be embraced first by the musician[s] behind it. If the men behind POP ETC love what they make, then I applaud their willingness to try new sounds. I was worried at first when a lot of fans lost faith in POP ETC after hearing this album. Even I, at first, wasn't pulled into the record. However, after seeing them live, I was able to see just how amazing the music is. The recordings don't quite capture the energy and essence that this group passionately displays while performing. Also, the reason why I like this sound so much is because it reminds me of 90's pop music, which I grew up listening to. Check out their New Influences Mix. http://soundcloud.com/popetcetera/new-influences-weekend-mix For any skeptics, just give the album a listen or two. I know that this album isn't as gripping, big, and dramatic as the previous album, "Big Echo", but I am willing to embrace this album just as much. I can't help but groove to it. It's feel-good pop. I love it.

haha I love how flustered people are by the new direction. If you listen closely, song writing and structure wise, (aside from instrumentation) next to nothing has changed. Just that it's got a little cheese in the middle. I think that this isn't a cemented spot for Chu and others. I think they are young trying to find their niche in the sound world. We can't condemn them for that. Yes, it's a bit gaudy. But I think somewhere in there, that's the point. Not that they ment to make music to piss everyone off, but to create music that stimulates their personal artistic goals. also, p4k should never be a reliable source. Awful journalism.
