Oxtoby is an independent rock band formed in Liverpool, UK in 2009. The ever-changing lineup consists of Neil Oxtoby and friends.
Neil was born in a remote Australian town. Growing up, Neil moved between the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland. It was in Brisbane (Queensland) where Neil honed his singing, songwriting and performance skills while studying for a Ph.D. in quantum physics. This degree has given him day jobs for the past few years, including research positions in Hertfordshire and Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
Neil currently writes, records and performs under his surname - primarily in a solo capacity, but occasionally as a band.
Musical influences include Pearl Jam, Ryan Adams, Crowded House, The Beatles, Counting Crows, Ben Harper, Blues Traveler, Duke Special, Jason Mraz and Matchbox Twenty, amongst others.
