1) Overdose is a metal pioneer band from the Brazilian region of Minas Gerais formed in 1983. In 1985, they divided with Sepultura the most famous split album of Brazilian metal, also the first LP released by the label Cogumelo Records. “Século XX” assured countrywide recognition to the band. Their first LP was Conscience in 1987, followed by the album You’re Really Big released in 1989 and featuring a melodic Heavy Metal sound.
In 1990 Overdose recorded Addicted To Reality conceiving their thrash metal sound. Two years later the band released Circus of Death which was the base of various later recordings. Progress of Decadence, their most famous effort and also their most exotic album was released in 1993 through the U.S. label Futurist. During that time the band developed a consistent mixture between Brazilian folkloric drums, whistles and thrash. Their lyrics were based upon social problems and desolated landscapes of poverty in capitalistic societies.

Between one extreme (melodic heavy) to other (groove) Overdose (Brazil) should return from the ashes making a sound like ADDICTED TO REALITY, although I think Circus of Death is their best album, the former is what they liked to do best. The production is delicious to say at least. This album could synthesize the vibe and the production of the golden era of Brazilian metal. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING, nowadays is like it was before. PS - I do think all their albums are real tour de forces!

A banda mais sem identidade da história do Metal nacional. Cada época seguiam a onda em voga (heavy, thrash, funk o' metal, flertaram até com o death, batucadas) - e sempre colando no Sepultura. Por isso nunca foram pra frente… uma pena, pois o talento e persistência deles era inquestionável.

Velho , tambeém concordo contigo , e sem duvida uma das melhores bandas nacionais , junto com os companheiros da cena também , é claro ! Tenho Orgulho de ser Mineiro por causa dessas "COISAS LINDA !!" É uma pena que estão parados e não têm tanto reconhecimento assim , como os canalhas do Sepultura , mas na minha opinião são , é como o rapaz ali disse , NÂO TEM PRA SEPULTURA QUANDO SE TRATA DO OVERDOSE !!
