There are two bands with this name
1 - Over The Moon is the High Wycombe musical baby of Pete Carr (aka Thology) and Richard Barr (aka Middle Child). Listen to their music at http://www.soundcloud.com/overthemoon
2 - Over The Moon (from Groningen, Holland) started out in the late nineties as a band that was particularly driven and influenced by new wave and punk music. In 2000 they released an album called "no undo' at the 'Marista' label. This cd was recorded and produced by Frans Hagenaars.
He compared the band to the sixties band 'Jefferson Airplane', also because of the resemblance of the sound of singer Barbara Feenstra's voice to that of Grace Slick's.
The album had good reviews but unfortunately Barbara Feenstra left the band shortly after the release of the album.
Then Klaske Oenema joined the band as a singer and writer and new songs emerged. This resulted in the release of the EP 'Zodiak tracks' (recorded by Eric Bosma, a member of Onakentona).
The songs on this EP show a more melodic and subtle fase, inspired and caused by Klaske Oenema's delicate voice. Theo van der Laan -playing the drums- had to leave the band and was replaced by Rene laeven. Klaske Oenema moved to Amsterdam and had to leave the band as well. Then Christy Bagerman joined the band in 2004. This time the band recorded a demo with 4 tracks, again recorded and produced by Frans Hagenaars. In 2006 Christy and (bassplayer )Johan Sluiter left the band. The leftovers of Over the moon were soon replenished by Maria and Joris Smit.
Recently this has lead to the recording (by Edwin Pot) of a new EP 'To work' in studio 'Potsound'.
The sound of Over The Moon has broadened itself through the use of more instruments like trumpet and keyboard and more 'folkyness'.
Rene Laeven - drums
Anne van Slageren - voice,guitar
Joris Smit - bass
Maria Smit - voice, keyboard
Welmoed Wijma - voice, guitar, trumpet
