Biography

Jonathan Belfontaine, otherwise known as Outlet, was destined to make music from the very beginning. At a young age, Jon was given a guitar by a neighbor. Soon afterward, he stumbled upon a broken amp, took it apart and put it back together into working condition. Having an incredible ear for music, he was able to pick out the notes he heard, and play along with any song. Over the years, he’s played in different rock bands, including the popular local New Hampshire bands; Something and Mantra. His musical interest never stopped at just the guitar either, always picking up a bass or a set of drumsticks. While being influenced in different genres of rock, he was also becoming deeply integrated into the electronica scene, and of course with a healthy serving of hip hop and rap on the side. Soon he had a keyboard and was experimenting with making music of his own, with psychedelic melodies and hypnotic tones, empowered with heavy instrumentals. Writing and producing this music on his own, using only keyboards and drum machines, gave him the upper hand to aid him later on down the line. With the demise of his keyboard, and the emerging success of his band, Mantra, he put the electronic music to the side for a moment. However, due to conflict of interests and the inability to come together as a whole, Mantra disbanded. In the summer of 2008, his burning passion was reignited when he and his longtime girlfriend Elisabeth Marcoux went to Rothbury’s music festival in Michigan.
