Biography

This is not an artist, but appears here due to incorrectly tagged tracks for a various broadway shows. If this non-artist appears in your charts, do last.fm and yourself a favor. Fix your tags by putting the actual artist name in the artist field. Not the show name, not “original cast recording”, but the actual artist name.

    It's a fair point given that "Original Cast Recording" is not an artist. Personally, for soundtracks or cast recordings, I'd use the singer as the artist, or if it's an instrumental, the composer or producer. Simple. There's always at least one human being that you can name.

    But... I've downloaded things from iTunes (my live Rocky Horror recording, for instance) that uses Original Cast Recording as its artist. Many of the CDs I own put Original Cast Recording or a variation thereof (Broadway or London) by default. Sorry, Last.fm, but I have no interest in clogging the hell out of my iTunes and media library just because you say my artist tags are 'wrong'.

    Uhhh...you can't get mad at people for having incorrect tags and then not explain how you want us to fix them. Use the "artist" - what does that mean for a cast recording? Who is the artist? The person who wrote the song? The singer of that particular song? The conductor of the orchestra?

    What bullshit. The name of the musical is the Album, the person who wrote it is the Composer, and the cast that recorded it is the Artist. That's it. There's no other way to do it. I can't even imagine what last.fm wants us to use...

    Funny. Even last.fm radio plays "Original Cast Recording" when you ask for similar artist to some musical performers. Easier to preach with word than set example, I guess.
