There are multiple artists with this name:

1) Origin is an American band from Topeka, Kansas/ They formed in 1998 by Guitarist/Vocalists Paul Ryan and Jeremy Turner. They were soon joined by Clint Appelhanz (Bass), Mark Manning (Vocals) and George Fluke (Drums).
On July 4th, 1997, Paul Ryan and Jeremy Turner, acquaintances through mutual friends, had a conversation that would change their lives. Shortly thereafter, the two guitarists/vocalists got together and started jamming with the intent to create a band embodying blistering speed, total brutality, technical proficiency, and the utmost in quality musicianship.

In October, 1997, they convinced long-time friend Clint Appelhanz to put down his guitar, pick up a bass and join them. Coincidentally, Paul was also good friends with vocalist Mark Manning, who possessed an unbelievably monstrous voice of unmatched ferocity. After hearing the damage the existing members had rendered, Mark aligned himself with the nascent group.

In January, 1998, the quartet found drummer George Fluke, who enabled the artists to push the boundaries of their music even further. Finally, after deciding on a moniker that best represented their vision, the unearthly entity known as ORIGIN was created. Four months after formation, ORIGIN landed a high-profile gig opening for SUFFOCATION, and unleashed on the unsuspecting crowd a torrent of unbelievably technical, pulverizing death metal.

Seeing them live really boosted my opinion of them, while their studio material is a mixed bag Jason really tore it up live.

@ AS_Luemmel - I agree man, aside from the Crust influenced Redistribution Of Filth & a couple other tracks, it seems Origin is merely going through the motions on Omnipresent. Granted, I have only heard Antithesis once, and am going through their back catalog tonight, which I was previously quite familiar with (minus Entity, which I have actually yet to hear); III along with Antithesis seem to be the best Origin has created to date. Of course, Antithesis has much better production so more people probably steer towards it, but III still seems to be their best, when you want straight in your face Death Metal... to me...

When I saw them at slaughter, their vocalist forgot that The Aftermath was on Antithesis and the guitarist had to correct him haha.

@ABHORRANCE666 Wow, you were the one to drop the bad news on me. I assumed they were coming here since that is the case 95% of the time. At least I was able to see them last Saturday despite the short set and I'm sure they'll be back here before I know it.

Damnit, the All Things Dead Tour isn't coming to Southern California. However, Origin easily had one of the best sets at Summer Slaughter the other day. Really good stage presence and crowd participation. I just wish they had more than 25 minutes to play. They did play a lot from Omnipresent, and those songs are certainly killer live.

Omnipresent is pretty fuckin' gnarly, I still prefer Entity, it's probably on the same level as Antithesis for me

I think they've gone for a bit more of a groove-based approach this time around and it works for me.. However i'd say their peak up until this point has been Antithesis.

omnipresent is pretty meh... I mean I admit that I have already a hard time hearing through a whole album of origin, because the songs really acquire your full attention and my hearing adapts to the blasting pretty qucik so that all sounds like one continuous hotchpotch, but Antithesis and Entity had really catchy parts in their songs and a lot more variation going on than omnipresent in my opinion. Just sounds like the songs are going nowhere and even the interludes and some ideas like the d-beat in redistribution being kidna neat, they don't raise this album above your average tech death. I guess the first time I'm a little bit disappointed by Origin

Okay this new one rules! Not a second wasted anywhere on the damn thing, just 34 mins of chug/blast/groove/sweep/repeat.

sixj0k3rsx, I disagree. The brevity keeps things moving along at a good, fast clip. Origin writing longer songs that slowed-down more often (on Antithesis) was a backward move into more generic death metal territory for me. Echoes is their fastest, most intense, most uniquely "Origin" album, with just a couple, iconic longer tracks (like Staring From the Abyss), and i'm glad they've been moving back to shorter if not faster material.
