The last of the (seemingly) found-sound collages. This feels like both a response to the surprisingly upbeat "Radio Waves" and an entry point for the resigned, downbeat closer, "Of All the Things We've Made." The theme is information overload. We start with a single voice reading off the time, and additional voices, in various languages, join the first as the song progresses. Eventually, we're dealing with so many voices in so many distinct languages that we can no longer isolate individual voices; the voices can no longer convey their information. All the individuals are lost in the mix, and a recording of something as prosaic as people stating the time of day has become mysterious and indecipherable. The proliferation of voices allowed by mass communication gives everyone a chance to speak, but no one a chance to be heard. We're all lost in a jumble of indistinct, overlapping voices.
