Biography

An incorrect tag for Опричь.

The group OPRICH was found in cold autumn 1998. The members of OPRICH came from a hard-core project KONTRA. In the beginning it had former name. Having completed the membership of the group with two vocalists who can also play the flute the group began to realize earlier born ideas under the leadership of Jaromir. Two-part voice of folk melodies and flute’s tune merged in heavy sounding of guitars. The necessity of Russian-speaking name had become obvious, so the name OPRICH appeared. According to The Dal’s dictionary this Old Russian word means “from without”, “vice versa”, “against” - that is negative, opposition and struggle. OPRICH directs the edge of a hard militant spear at Christianity and bourgeois value system which transmute the Slavs into obedient and politcorrect inhabitants who are outsiders on their own land. The words of OPRICH songs are full of heathen characters in its northern form. This form is the most close by Top Volga population. Peculiarities of local dialect also used in the songs. As a result of searching for brothers-in-arms OPRICH maintains friendly relations with Jaroslavl Slavonic community. The members of OPRICH appear on stage in national dresses. OPRICH’s concerts are bright act which is full of strength and savage fury. It is worth seeing! Russian patriotic label Stellar Winter records edited mini album OPRICH “Wolfen loyalty” in spring 2005. It was a split with Ukrainian group KRODA.

Casus Belli Musica and Svarogovo Kolo Distro are happy to inform that their work on the conceptual project “Triunity” (feat. OPRICH, CHUR and PIAREVARACIEN) is almost finished. At the moment the whole musical material of the bands is recorded, and their promo samples will be uploaded to the label’s and bands’ sites soon. We would remind you that the project “Triunity” is to express historical solidarity of our Slavonic nations and their kinship of cultural roots, and at the same time underline the unique features of each nation's heritage. The album will include previously unreleased songs of the bands.

NEW ALBUM IS OUT NOW! Press-release: It is plausible to call the first full-length album of a Russian pagan metal band OPRICH as a long-awaited one. Its way to the listeners was not easy, but the band has been persistently forging a steel blade of its music overcoming all difficulties. “North The Boundless” became a logical continuation of two successful split-albums with Ukrainian bands KRODA and CHUR. OPRICH’s music found its unique mood having absorbed the true air of the Russian North. A blend of excellent Russian poetry and catchy tunes – forceful and war-like, lyrical and cheerful – is a weapon that strikes deadly.

"Anti-Antifa, Cynicism, Stormfront, Satan Rocks!, Against antifa listening to NS music". Does anybody even listen to music any more? Or do people just apply their own beliefs to whatever they listen to without bothering to check what the bands stand for and what lyrical themes they touch upon?
