What a riff, sounds like a galaxy being folded into an elegant origami shape.

Mike is clearly a Nintendo fan. The Lotus Eater has a section that sounds like the Mario underground theme, and this one sounds like Ocarina of Time's forest temple. [2]

My favorite track from Watershed. Very atmospheric and "organic" feeling. Gives me chills every time I listen to it.

@thedreamforce, buddy I completely agree on your description of this song but you're wrong when you say that is the reason why it is better than The Lotus Eater. If your idea/definition of the ideal song is something that is slow and climaxes and is coherent than fine. But you can't shove your opinions of what "ideal" music should sound like. Lots of people prefer twisted transitions in songs, or would rather the song be as interesting as often as possible. Lots of songs considered the greatest of all time are not coherent at all. There are just too many people/perceptions of preferable music to ever say one song is better than another with completely different structures/moods/intentions (thus subjectivity, obviously).

All Opeth songs are awesome. I just hate those comments like "Heir Apparent isn't that good blaablaa".. They are all perfect. [2] I don't believe there is one Opeth song that I don't like.

@BigDaddy555666: It IS better than Lotus Eater because it builds toward a climactic ending. It has more momentum when it reaches the final riff. The Lotus Eater is "just" a compilation of REALLY awesome parts that doesn't form much of a cohesive whole. Hex Omega has a massive, epic feel while The Lotus Eater feels more like "OMG THIS IS AWESOME" in parts. Listening to it is like watching a technically impressive but in-cohesive art film; it damn well looked good, but you don't feel too much when it's over.
